| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing degraded bust rendered in a highly stylised Anglo-Saxon manner, the head depicted frontally with a schematic face and radiating lines suggesting drapery or a collar below. A cross pattée surmounts the crown of the head, and three small crosses or star-like pellet groups are disposed in the left, right, and upper fields, flanking the bust. The design is set within an irregular flan with no beaded border, typical of the hammered sceat series. The overall treatment is characteristic of the debased Insular style of the late 7th to early 8th century. |
