Obverse description Central radiate design composed of a stylised facing head or cross-like motif with radiating lines extending toward the periphery, characteristic of the degenerate Northumbrian sceat tradition. The field is divided by bold incuse lines forming a roughly symmetric pattern. A retrograde or poorly-formed Latin legend reading EADBERHT encircles the design, with letterforms exhibiting the crude, angular execution typical of mid-eighth-century Northumbrian die-cutting. The overall composition reflects the debased artistic conventions of the Class D series, with the legend partially blundered or ligatured. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, consistent with hand-hammered production of the period.
