Reverse description Central design features a single large pellet at the centre of a beaded inner circle, with four cross-shaped arms radiating outward to the edge of the coin, dividing the field into quadrants. The surrounding legend reads + CEOLBALD in bold, well-spaced Anglo-Saxon capitals, identifying the moneyer responsible for the issue. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hand-hammered Northumbrian sceattas of the period.
