| Obverse description | At centre, an ornate crowned cartouche embellished with foliate scrollwork and a cherub's head at the apex frames a diagonally banded oval shield bearing the arms of the Republic of Lucca. The entire device is set within a continuous pearl border (grenetis). The peripheral legend RESPUBLICA LUCENSIS in Latin capitals encircles the composition, identifying the issuing authority. |
