Between the two figures, a lily in a vase occupies the central field, a well-established symbol of Marian purity and virginity. The encircling Latin legend, drawn from the Angelic Salutation (Luke 1:28), reads: AVE GRACIA PLENA DOMINUS TECUM, lending the coin its name, the Saluto d'Oro. |
