| Obverse description | Full-length effigy of Saint Benedict in high relief, shown facing front in monastic robes with a halo, holding a patriarchal cross in his right hand and an open book (the Rule of Saint Benedict) in his left. To the left of the figure, the inscription CRUX SEPARTERIS appears in the field alongside a raven, and to the right the legend BENEDICTI with an eagle; the exergue bears the inscription EX·S·M·CASINO and the date MDCCCLXXX in Roman numerals. The circular border legend reads EIVS·IN·OBITVNRO·PRÆ·SENTIA·MVNIAMVR. |
