| Descrizione del dritto | Central field displays the crowned Portuguese royal arms — a shield bearing five escutcheons arranged in a quincunx, each charged with five roundels (quinas), enclosed within a bordure of seven castles — rendered in high relief in the hammered style characteristic of mid-16th-century Portuguese coinage. Four ornate cross-fleury symbols are distributed symmetrically in the angles surrounding the shield, flanked by additional decorative elements. A royal crown surmounts the shield at the top of the field. The circular Latin legend runs along the coin's periphery, reading IOANES : III : RE : PORTV : ET : AL, identifying King João III of Portugal. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Full-length standing figure of Saint Vincent, patron saint of Lisbon, depicted facing the viewer in ecclesiastical vestments — a dalmatic and maniple — with a nimbus (halo) about his head. The saint extends his right arm outward, holding a model of a sailing ship, an attribute emblematic of his patronage of Lisbon and seafarers, while a six-pointed star appears at lower left and a radiant star or spur rowel to the lower right of the figure. The saint stands upon a platform or base. The encircling Latin legend ZELATOR FIDEI VSQVEAD MORTEM ('Zealous defender of the faith unto death') runs around the periphery, affirming his martyrdom. |
