| Description de l’avers | Crowned Portuguese royal arms (castles and spheres) occupying the central field, struck in hammered style with characteristic irregularity. The design is enclosed within a squared linear border with dotted or beaded inner rim, reflecting the hammered technique of the Goa mint. The date elements appear divided across the field, with the numerals split between the quarters of the cross. The overall composition is geometric and highly stylised, consistent with Portuguese colonial gold coinage of the early eighteenth century. |
