| Obverse description | The Portuguese royal coat of arms rendered in hammered relief, occupying the central field of the flan. The design is characteristically crude and irregular, consistent with the hand-struck coinage of the Goa mint during the late 18th century. The armorial shield displays the traditional Portuguese emblems in a bold, stylized fashion. The overall strike is uneven, with the device showing varying depth across the surface. A toothed or granular border is visible around the periphery. |

| Reverse description | A bold floriated Cross of Saint Thomas (Cruz de São Tomé) dominates the central field, its terminals adorned with trefoil or fleur-de-lis finials in the characteristic Portuguese colonial style. The four quadrants formed by the cross contain the denomination numeral '4' in the upper left, the xerafins mark 'X' in the upper right, and the date split as '17' in the lower left and '95' in the lower right. A prominent toothed border encircles the entire reverse design. The strike, though hammered and somewhat irregular, renders the cross and surrounding numerals with reasonable clarity. |
