Obverse description Large armillary sphere occupying the central field, depicted with prominent meridian rings and a gridded lower hemisphere decorated with saltire crosses in each panel. The sphere is surmounted by a royal crown rendered in bold relief, flanked on either side by stylized foliate or floral sprays. The overall composition is characteristic of the Portuguese colonial coinage tradition, with no peripheral legend, the design filling the flan to its edges in the hammered style typical of Goa mint issues.
