The date 1567 appears in two parts in the lower field flanking the tree's base. An inner toothed border separates the central design from the circumferential Latin legend, which reads EXVRGAT DEVS ET DISSIPENTVR INIMICI EIVS DAT GLORIA VIRES. The reverse bears the countermark applied in 1578, visible as an applied punch mark on the field, typical of the revaluation countermarking of Marian coinage. |
