Rupee - Shahrukh Afshar Type B, Herat

Shahrukh, grandson of Nader Shah, was installed as ruler of Khorasan in 1750 after a period of factional violence that left him briefly blinded by rival Afsharid claimants. His authority over Herat was always contested — the mint there operated under persistent pressure from Durrani Afghan expansion, and Ahmad Shah Durrani would eventually absorb the city entirely. Coinage from this window is consequently short-lived by design, not circumstance.

The Type B designation distinguishes a die arrangement revised early in Shahrukh's Herat issues, likely reflecting a change in mint supervision rather than any political proclamation.
