| Obverse description | The field is entirely occupied by a multi-line Persian inscription in bold Nasta'liq script, reading across two registers separated by a horizontal line. The upper register bears the opening words of the royal legend praising Nader Shah as sultan over the sultans of the world, while the lower register continues with his titles as King of Kings and Sahib-Qiran (lord of the auspicious conjunction). Small pellet ornaments are visible in the angles of the inscription, a decorative convention typical of Afsharid hammered coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, with portions of the legend cropped at the rim due to the limitations of hand-striking technique. |
