Obverse description Central field bears a multi-line Persian calligraphic inscription in thuluth script reading the royal titulature of Nader Shah: 'hast sultan bar salatin jehan, shah-e shahan nadir sahib qiran' ('Sultan over the Sultans of the world, King of Kings Nadir, Lord of the Fortunate Conjunction of Planets'). The legend is disposed in horizontal registers across the flan, executed in the hammered tradition typical of Afsharid coinage. The irregular flan exhibits the characteristic uneven edge of hand-struck Islamic rupees of this period.

Reverse description Central field contains a multi-line Persian and Arabic calligraphic inscription recording the mint name and regnal invocation: 'zarb dar-ul-khilafat Shahjahanabad khallad Allah mulkahu 1151' ('Struck at the seat of the Caliphate, Shahjahanabad — may Allah perpetuate his kingdom — [AH] 1151'). The mint epithet 'dar-ul-khilafat' (seat of the Caliphate) reflects Nader Shah's use of the Mughal imperial capital's prestige following his sack of Delhi in 1739. The AH date 1151 corresponds to 1739 CE. The inscription is disposed in horizontal registers across the hammered flan in a style consistent with Afsharid provincial coinage struck at captured Mughal mints.
