| Reverse description | The reverse of this hammered silver rupee displays Persian/Nastaliq script legends typical of Mughal-style coinage as adopted by the Maratha rulers of Kolhapur. Mint and regnal year indications appear within the field, surrounded by decorative pellet borders consistent with the hand-struck tradition of the period. The irregular flan edges reflect the hammered production technique common to Maratha princely rupees of the mid-eighteenth century. |
