| Reverse description | The reverse field presents the Shia shahada in three horizontal registers of bold Nasta'liq script, separated by incuse ruled lines. The upper register carries the first part of the Islamic profession of faith, the central register bears the name of the Prophet Muhammad as Rasul Allah, and the lower register invokes Ali as Wali Allah, affirming the distinctly Twelver Shia confessional identity of the Zand state. The lettering is deeply struck and boldly rendered, filling the flan to its irregular edges. The plain edge and hand-struck fabric are consistent with Iranian hammered silver coinage of the period. |
