Obverse description The obverse field is entirely occupied by a four-line Persian poetic legend in elegant Nasta'liq script, arranged in horizontal registers divided by ruled lines. The inscription, reading right to left, proclaims the sovereignty of the Imam and the legitimacy of the Sahib al-Zaman (the Hidden Imam), reflecting the Shia doctrinal character of Zand coinage. The mint name Māzandarān appears in the lower register, serving as the principal identifying element of this type. The flan displays the characteristic irregular fabric of hand-struck Iranian silver coinage of the mid-eighteenth century, with bold, deeply impressed lettering throughout the field.
