| Reverse description | The reverse presents a three-line Arabic Shi'a kalima inscription in bold nasta'liq calligraphy, contained within a raised inner circle bordered by a prominent dotted or beaded inner ring. An additional outer beaded border frames the entire design, a hallmark of Safavid-era milled and hammered silver coinage. The upper line bears the shahada, the middle line names the Prophet Muhammad as the Messenger of God, and the lower line affirms 'Ali as the wali (deputy) of God. The field between the inner and outer borders is plain and slightly granular in texture. The inscription is deeply struck and displays vigorous, well-separated lettering consistent with the Rasht mint's output of this period. |
