| Additional information |
The Hotak dynasty's grip on Persia was already broken by 1754 — Nader Shah had extinguished it over a decade earlier — making this a ghost coinage struck in the name of a political fiction. The "Azad" designation signals a claimant issue, coins produced by a remnant Hotaki faction operating without genuine territorial control. Isfahan's mint, one of the great Safavid production centers, was being used to lend legitimacy to an authority that no longer meaningfully existed.
