| Obverse description | Struck in the name of the Mughal emperor Ahmad Shah Bahadur, the obverse features a two-line Persian legend within a divided rectangular cartouche, with the royal epithet and regnal inscription rendered in Nastaliq script. Additional inscriptions occupy the upper and lower margins of the field, following the standard Mughal rupee format. The overall style is characteristic of late Mughal provincial issue coinage as struck by the Marathas. |
