Obverse description Central device features the Imperial Russian double-headed eagle displayed, with wings spread, each head surmounted by a separate crown and both heads together beneath a larger central Imperial crown topped with a cross. The eagle's breast bears an escutcheon depicting St. George on horseback slaying the dragon, surrounded by a complex quartered shield incorporating the arms of the Russian Empire's constituent territories. The eagle holds a sceptre in its right talon and an orb in its left. A Cyrillic legend encircles the design within a beaded border, reading the silver fineness and weight specification, with the mintmaster's initials ПА appearing at the base.
