Beschrijving voorzijde Draped and armored bust of Emperor Peter I facing right, wearing a laurel wreath and elaborately decorated cuirass with a beaded shoulder strap visible. The portrait is rendered in a bold, baroque style with flowing hair. A continuous Cyrillic legend encircles the effigy within a raised rim, reading the emperor's full imperial title. The mintmark СПБ (Saint Petersburg) appears at the base of the bust.

Aanvullende informatie

A novodel — a restrike produced by the Imperial Mint for collectors, typically in the 18th or 19th century using original or reconstructed dies. The СПБ mint mark places this at St. Petersburg, which Peter himself founded in 1703 and designated as his window to the West. Whether the dies used are contemporaneous with 1723 or later reconstructions is a question that genuinely divides specialists; Bitkin catalogues both possibilities under separate Н-prefix numbers, which is precisely why this piece carries four reference citations.
