Obverse description Draped bust of Catherine II facing right, her hair elaborately coiffed and adorned with a small imperial crown, with flowing curled locks cascading to the shoulder. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail in the drapery and lace at the décolletage. The circular Cyrillic legend runs along the periphery, reading the empress's full imperial title. The mint mark ММД appears in the lower exergue beneath the bust truncation.

Reverse description The Imperial Russian double-headed eagle displayed with wings spread, each head surmounted by a separate crown and the whole surmounted by a larger central imperial crown above. The breast of the eagle bears an oval shield depicting the mounted St. George slaying the dragon. The date is split to the left and right of the eagle's wings in the upper field, while the Cyrillic denomination legend МОНЕТА РУБЛЬ is distributed around the periphery. The mint-master's initials appear below the eagle's tail.
