| Obverse description | Draped bust of Empress Catherine I facing left, her hair elaborately dressed and adorned with a jewelled crown, a strand of pearls visible at the nape of the neck. The effigy is rendered in high relief with strong classical modelling typical of early 18th-century Russian portraiture. A circular Cyrillic legend surrounds the bust, running along the outer rim of the field. |
