| Descrizione del dritto | Bare-headed effigy of Emperor Nicholas I in high-relief left-facing profile, with characteristic mustache and sideburns, rendered in a refined neoclassical style by engraver A. Lyalin. The truncation of the bust is cleanly cut, with the engraver's signature А. ЛЯЛИН inscribed beneath. A circular Cyrillic legend surrounds the portrait close to the raised rim, identifying the emperor as Autocrat of all Russia. The field is flat and unadorned, allowing the finely modelled portrait to dominate the design. |

Struck to commemorate the unveiling of the Bronze Horseman — not the Falconet equestrian statue already standing in St. Petersburg, but the colossal statue of Nicholas I on St. Isaac's Square, completed by Peter Klodt and unveiled in June 1859. The coin was issued specifically for the ceremony rather than general circulation, which explains why survivors frequently appear in considerably better condition than contemporary circulation roubles.
Bit#566 and Bit#567 represent two distinct die varieties, differentiated by details in the lettering of the edge inscription.
