Obverse description Hammered gold quarter dinar of irregular flan with a concentric three-zone layout in Kufic Arabic script. The central field contains a three-line religious inscription reading the Shahada with the addition of Ali as wali Allah, all set above a horizontal baseline rule. An inner annular legend carries a Quranic verse (Quran 9:33), and an outer marginal legend gives the mint formula naming Sicily (Siqilliya) and the date of striking. The overall style is characteristic of Fatimid Kufic epigraphy, with angular letterforms and minimal ornamentation.
