Obverse description Laureate, armored half-length figure facing right, holding an upright sword over the right shoulder while the left hand grasps a ribbon attached to a small shield bearing the arms of Holland. The legend encircles the effigy and terminates with a rose mintmark. The portrait is rendered in a bold, high-relief baroque style typical of late seventeenth-century Dutch coinage.
