Obverse description Central field occupied by the crowned arms of West Friesland — a shield bearing three passant lions in pale — set within elaborate Renaissance mantling and strapwork. The crowned helm surmounts the shield, itself topped by a lion crest. The entire achievement is rendered in high relief consistent with the piedfort's double thickness. A beaded inner border frames the composition, with the circular Latin legend running between the inner and outer borders.
