Reverse description The provincial coat of arms of Gelderland — a shield bearing a rampant lion — is prominently displayed at center, surmounted by an ornate crested tournament helmet with elaborate acanthus mantling extending symmetrically into the field. The helmet crest features a lion emerging from a crown, consistent with Gelderland heraldic tradition. The entire heraldic composition is contained within a beaded inner circle, with the circumferential Latin monetary legend occupying the outer margin. The engraving exhibits the high-relief, richly detailed style typical of Dutch piedfort klippe issues of the late sixteenth century.
