Obverse description Armored half-length bust of a bearded male figure facing right, clad in elaborately detailed plate armor with a ruff collar, a sword resting on his right shoulder. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the late Renaissance style typical of Dutch Republic coinage of the period. The date appears in the upper field within the surrounding Latin legend. A beaded inner border separates the central effigy from the circumferential inscription.
