Obverse description Armored bust of a knight facing right, wearing a plumed helmet and gorget, with a sword visible over the left shoulder and the Zeeland provincial shield — charged with a lion emerging from waves — to the right of the figure. The portrait is rendered in a robust late Renaissance style typical of Dutch provincial coinage of the early seventeenth century. A beaded inner circle frames the design, with the partial Latin legend running along the outer periphery beginning at the upper left. The overall strike is characteristic of hammered silver production, with some weakness at the irregular flan edges.
