| Obverse description | Full-length effigy of Louis II de Male as an armored knight on horseback, galloping to the left, brandishing a raised sword in his right hand. The rider is depicted in full plate armor with a crested helm surmounted by a lion passant, and the horse is rendered in vigorous motion with flowing mane and tail. A crowned lion of Flanders appears on the shield, and additional heraldic lion devices are visible in the field. The circumferential Latin legend, separated by rosette stops, runs within a beaded inner border. |
