Obverse description Left-facing bareheaded bust of the Prince of Wales, depicted in civilian dress with a sash or decorative collar, rendered in high relief against a plain field. The portrait is executed in a naturalistic style consistent with Percy Metcalfe's medallic work of the period. The circular legend reads OUR EMPIRE PRINCE around the upper periphery, separated by raised dots, with the date 24 MAY 1927 inscribed along the lower arc of the field flanking the truncation.
