Struck to commemorate the 1825 voyage of the sloop Restaurationen, which carried the first organized group of Norwegian emigrants to the United States — 52 Quakers and Haugeans departing Stavanger for New York. The replica was produced in connection with Norwegian-American heritage events marking the journey's anniversary.
The original 1825 2 skilling was a circulating copper issue of the Kongsberg Mint under Frederik VI.
