Reverse description Central field displays a passant lion facing right, rendered in bold Gothic relief, representing the heraldic device of the Margraviate of Meissen. Above the lion is a cluster of roundels or pellets representing the Meissen coat of arms. The lion stands on a low cartouche inscribed with the modern replica date 1988. A beaded inner circle separates the central device from the circular peripheral legend in uncial Latin, which reads GROSSVS MARCH MISNENSIS, identifying this as a Meissen march groschen. A cross divides the legend.
