| Obverse description | Central square perforation surrounded by four Chinese characters arranged in cruciform reading clockwise from top: 康 (Kāng), 熙 (Xī), 通 (Tōng), 寶 (Bǎo), forming the reign title and denomination legend 康熙通寶 (Kangxi Tongbao). The characters are rendered in regular script (kaishu) with bold, well-defined strokes rising from a flat, unadorned field. A raised inner rim borders the square hole, and a wider raised outer rim encircles the coin. |
