Obverse description Central shield bearing the Lippe-Detmold coat of arms — a rose — surmounted by a full-face great helm adorned with elaborate feathered crest. Decorative mantling or ornamental flourishes flank the shield on either side. A circular legend in Latin runs around the periphery. Applied to the field is the oval Salzburg countermark dated 16S81, punched during the revalidation of the coin for circulation within the Archbishopric of Salzburg under Archbishop Max Gandolf von Kuenburg.
