| Obverse description | Central field displays the Gothic monogram of Juan I — the letters 'IOHN' in bold Gothic script — surmounted by a large royal crown with fleur-de-lis finials, all contained within a beaded inner circle. A second beaded border frames the design, between which runs the lengthy Latin devotional legend invoking Psalm 117. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the rim, characteristic of hammered coinage of the period. |
