Reverse description Quartered arms of Castile and Leon depicted in the four quadrants of a cross-style shield: castles (towers) in the first and fourth quarters representing Castile, and lions rampant in the second and third quarters representing Leon. The shield is rendered in the Gothic heraldic style characteristic of Trastámara-era coinage. A beaded inner border separates the central armorial device from the surrounding Latin legend, which names the king and his titles. The irregular hammered flan truncates portions of the legend on some areas of the coin.
