| Reverse description | Within a beaded border (grenetis), a horse advancing to the left is depicted in a stylised, somewhat schematic manner characteristic of Crusader copper coinage. A small cross appears above the horse, emphasising the Christian identity of the issuing authority. The surrounding legend CIVITAS TRIPOLIS identifies the city of Tripoli as the place of issue. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped at the edges, consistent with the low-denomination hammered coinage of the Latin East in the twelfth century. |
