| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bare-headed, laureate and draped bust of Hadrian facing right, rendered with characteristic beard and individualized portraiture typical of Hadrianic coinage. The emperor's curling hair is bound by a laurel wreath, and the drapery is visible at the truncation of the left shoulder. The encircling legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan in crisp Latin capitals. The portrait displays the refined Hellenistic artistic influence that distinguishes Hadrianic numismatic portraiture from earlier Trajanic types. |
