| Obverse description | Laureate head of Domitian facing right, with short hair rendered in fine strands and a laurel wreath crown befitting his imperial dignity. The portrait displays the characteristic Flavian physiognomy with a strong jaw and slightly fleshy features. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP CAES DOMITIAN AVG GERMANICVS, distributed around the coin's outer field. The flan is small and slightly irregular, as is typical of hammered silver quinarii of the Flavian period. The overall portrait style reflects the accomplished die-cutting of the Rome Mint under Domitian. |
