Obverse description Bare laureate head of Tiberius facing right, rendered with fine portraiture characteristic of early Julio-Claudian coinage, with neatly arranged curls framing the forehead and a lock falling behind the neck. The effigy is set within a well-defined inner field, with the encircling Latin legend distributed around the periphery and framed by a beaded border. The portrait displays the naturalistic style associated with the Lugdunum mint workshops, combining idealized Augustan classicism with individual facial features. The neck is rendered with close attention to musculature, lending the portrait a sense of sculptural depth typical of high-quality imperial gold coinage of the period.
