| Obverse description | Bare-shouldered laureate bust of Tiberius facing right, depicted with finely rendered hair beneath the wreath and a slightly idealised portrait in the Julio-Claudian tradition. The effigy is set within a border of beaded dots. The obverse legend TI DIVI F AVGVSTVS curves around the periphery in crisp Latin capitals, identifying the emperor as son of the deified Augustus. The portrait conveys imperial authority through its clean profile and restrained classical modelling, consistent with hammered gold coinage of the Lugdunum mint. |
