Aanvullende informatie

The Ilergetes were among the most militarily significant of the Iberian peoples, having allied with Carthage during the Second Punic War under the brothers Indibilis and Mandonius — a choice that ended badly when Rome prevailed. These quinarii were struck in the decades immediately following that conflict, during a period when Iberian mints were producing Roman-influenced silver not as submission but as pragmatic adaptation to a new economic order the legions had made unavoidable.

Iltirta's silver output from this period is notable for its consistency of weight standard, unusually disciplined for a provincial Iberian series.
