The saint's nimbed head is rendered facing forward in a hieratic, non-naturalistic style consistent with medieval Italian hammered coinage. The surrounding legend, punctuated by pellet stops, reads ⸰ S ⸰ TERENTI V, identifying the patron saint invoked under the authority of the Malatesta lords. The overall design reflects the simplified iconographic conventions of small-denomination billon issues struck in the Marche region during the early fifteenth century. |
