| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, two large Gothic initials separated by a vertically stacked ornament of star-pellet-star, referencing the joint lords Pandolfo and Galeazzo Malatesta. The surrounding legend, rendered in uncial Latin, reads DE MALATESTIS with pellet stops. The flan is irregular in shape, characteristic of hammered billon coinage of the period. The lettering is bold and occupies the majority of the field. |
