Reverse description Central shield bearing the Medici arms — a field charged with six roundels (palle) arranged in orle — surmounted by a ducal crown with visible arched bands and a mantling or collar at the shield's chief. The heraldic device is rendered in low relief with bold, slightly irregular contours typical of hammered billon coinage. A circular legend in Latin surrounds the shield, identifying the issuer as Duke Lorenzo de' Medici, separated by foliate or cross ornaments. The overall composition is characteristic of Italian Renaissance feudal coinage.
