背面描述 A displayed eagle with wings spread and head turned sinister, rendered in the heraldic style typical of della Rovere dynastic coinage. A crown surmounts the eagle's head. The design is encircled by a decorative border of oak leaves, referencing the della Rovere family name (rovere meaning oak), consistent with the dynastic iconography of the Duchy of Urbino. The overall execution reflects the irregular, hand-struck quality characteristic of late Renaissance Italian billon small coinage.

附加信息

Francis Maria II della Rovere ruled Urbino for five decades but died without a legitimate heir, a dynastic failure that had been anticipated for years. In 1624 he surrendered the duchy to Pope Urban VIII by prior agreement — one of the few Italian lordships to pass to the papacy not through war or extinction but through a negotiated, pre-arranged devolution. This quattrino was struck throughout that long reign, circulating in a state that its ruler already knew was living on borrowed time.
