| Beschrijving keerzijde | A seated Native American woman is depicted at work crafting traditional Catawba pottery, her figure occupying the right portion of the field. To her left stands a tall, finished ceramic vessel, representative of the renowned Catawba pottery tradition. A shallow dish or mold rests on the ground before her, suggesting the active process of creation. The border is adorned with a continuous band of geometric tribal motifs. The legend arcing above reads CATAWBA TRIBES 2023, with the denomination QUARTER DOLLAR inscribed along the lower border. |

The Native American Mint is a private company, not a U.S. government institution — these pieces carry no legal tender status and are not produced under any tribal mint authority recognized by the Catawba Indian Nation of South Carolina. The Catawba are notable as the only federally recognized tribe in the Carolinas, and their 1993 land settlement with the federal government was among the largest of its kind in the eastern United States. This piece trades on that cultural identity without any direct tribal involvement in its production or authorization.
